Filmmaker Sanne This and her partner Albert want to try for a baby. Determined, they turn to fertility treatments and artificial insemination. By placing herself at the heart of the film with her husband, this skilfully documents the highs and lows between clinic appointments and the mundanity of suburban life accompanied with irony by a few laying hens and negative pregnancy tests. With its gentle humour teasing out the absurdity of the drama—and vice versa—An Eternity of You and Me captures moments of tenderness and camaraderie, and of discomfort and disagreement. Letting these snippets of life speak for themselves, the skillful editing creates a touching story filled with doubts, setbacks, and joys.
